Pro-Chancellor Earmarks N2m For Indigent Students

The new Pro-Chancellor, Mr. Emmanuel Chukwuka Ukala (SAN), has established a N2,000,000 Special Scholarship Fund for indigent students of the University of Nigeria. This was made known yesterday as a memorandum was circulated to every department of the institution stating that a committee has already been set up to handle the Special Scholarship Fund.

The grant is meant to assist indigent students whose studentship would be truncated due to lack of funds to either pay school fees or fund their thesis and would be disbursed on a one-off basis. The fund will be provided for the four years of his tenure as Pro-Chancellor/Chairman, Governing Council of the University of Nigeria.

More information regarding members of the committee and a copy of the memorandum would be published soon enough.
