The body of 17 year old Nigerian-American high school student, Omotayo
Adeoye (pictured left), was found on Tuesday June 3rd, five days after
committing suicide by jumping off the George Washington bridge into the Hudson River.
Her body was found floating few meters away
from where she had jumped off the bridge into the river on the afternoon of May 29th. The police
department’s Harbor Unit and Riverside Drive
fished her out of the water. She was declared dead by emergency medical service officials.
Reports say Omotayo decided to take her own life after she was caught cheating during a difficulty German Language examination by her teacher at the high school of Math, Science and Engineering in Manhattan. She was reportedly brought out and disgraced in front of her peers. Supposedly ashamed of her actions and the humiliating consequence, she immediately left school with the intention of killing herself and also left a suicide note behind which read "I just want to go away forever on the bottom of the river.”. Continue...
Her friends described her as a very brilliant schoolgirl and the news of her death had since thrown her entire family into mourning.
