LASU Students Wants School Fees Reduced In Naira Not Percentage

The representatives of the Lagos State Univeristy (LASU), Ojo has called on the state government to reduce the hiked school fees in naira instead of the percentage calculations as the tuition is still on the high side. It will be recalled that the Lagos state governor, Babatunde Fashola announced the reduction of the LASU school fees by 34 t0 60 percent.

In their reaction, the Student Union Government (SUG) President of LASU, Nurudeen Yusuf said that the reduction is not enough as he insisted on the payment of N46,500.00 and  N65,500.00 for old and new students respectively. The SUG PRO, Adekoya Joseph called on the governor to do the reduction in naira and kobo instead of the percentage reduction as it is not showing the real amount they are meant to pay as school fees.

He also wondered why other state-owned institutions in different states with less vibrant economies than Lagos are paying less amounts than students of LASU when the economy of Lagos is more viable than some countries in West Africa.
